Baby Steps

Yesterday I had plans to get my steps in early in the day, but my plans don't always pan out!  I did get a good walk in with Cody though, even if it was after dark!  The nice part was that Eric joined me.  The not so nice part was that it was fairly icy.  Walking on ice should count as more steps!

It's pretty dark in Minnesota at 6:30 in the evening.  It felt good to get out anyway.
Walking time temp: 32 degrees.  Steps for the day: 8202.  I think that counts as a good day.

Ringing in 2020

Just over 3 years ago I had the idea to start this blog, I registered the name, worked on a header photo...and then got stuck.  I wanted things to be perfect, they weren't, so I didn't start. Perfectionism can be a big sticking point. 2020 is the year to get unstuck.  Changing one day into Day One!  My little blog is mostly to keep me accountable in my journey to get in shape, trying to get healthier and stronger since getting younger isn't an option!
One of my goals is to get outside more.  More walks, more activities regardless of the weather.  New Years Day seemed like the perfect day to try out my new snowshoes!

My hubby Eric and I bought each other snowshoes for Christmas, mine are green!  We were visiting our parents in our home town, a perfect place to try them out.  He decided to watch a football game with his dad, so our dog and I were on our own.

I took a quick walk around the horse pasture, so far so good!  The snow isn't too deep yet, and the weather was pretty nice...low 30's I think.  Before I headed out my mom told me that she wanted to walk in the woods...so I kept my snowshoeing adventure pretty short.  When your nearly 88 year old mom wants to walk in the woods with you, you walk in the woods!  I had her use my new poles, and off we went.

It had snowed the day before, so everything was beautifully covered.  We took a selfie in the woods in front of a pretty bush.

She took a picture of me and Cody.  It was a pretty day to be in the woods!

Cody loves the freedom of being off leash, checking out whatever he can find in the country!

He's going to be a big part of keeping me accountable in my quest to move more.  He loves to be outside and loves our walks.  Most posts will probably be a picture of him walking with me on a trail somewhere in our suburb.  Looking forward to making this a good year of moving more and getting stuff done.

Thanks for following along!
Summary of the day: Partly Cloudy, High of 32.  Snowshoeing, hiking in the woods. 6100 steps.
